Strictly Sail –
Miami is the new name for this 10-year-old boat show, conveniently held in sunny
Florida when the north of the country is snowbound. Although this year’s show
had less boats and visitors, they were better (and smarter) than in previous
years.

The Catamaran Company
Fills a Void
The Catamaran Company, formerly known as Catamaran Charters & Sales, deals only
in cats. The management team is the same group that founded Sunsail in the U.S.
in the early 1990s. The company consists of two primary divisions:
Catamaran Charters offering bareboat and crewed charters throughout the world,
headed by Linda B. Ambrose; and Catamaran Sales, for thesale of new and
pre-owned catamarans.
Featured
Products:
• NEW spiral bevel
gears
Sillette Sonic Ltd introduced optional spiral bevel gears
with their MkII Catamaran Drive, now used on Prouts, Geminis and other
production multihulls. The new type gears reduce noise levels and have what is
known as a “hunting tooth,” so that with every revolution the pinion meshes with
a different set of teeth on the gear, giving rise to an even “running-in”
process.
• PDQ 36 Mk.III has significant changes
With the delivery of hull #54, PDQ Yachts has introduced some
16 significant changes on its PDQ 36 catamaran. In an ongoing pursuit of
innovative extensions to the comfort and safety of their owners, the Mark.III
has many new features.
•
Lifeguard Hat Saves Skin
The Original Lifeguard Hat by Headhunter Hats offers superior
sun protection for the sun-sensitive. Since 80% of all skin cancers are found on
or around the head, wearing wide-brimmed hats will dramatically reduce the risk
of overexposure.
